26 Nov 2022 Sermon – Repairers of the breach

Audio sermon

Dear Beloved,

We thank God for his goodness, mercy and continued protection.  The word of God for the church today is Isaiah 54:11-17 (MSG)

“Afflicted city, storm-battered, unpitied:

I’m about to rebuild you with stones of turquoise, Lay your foundations with sapphires,     construct your towers with rubies, Your gates with jewels,     and all your walls with precious stones.
All your children will have God for their teacher—     what a mentor for your children!

You’ll be built solid, grounded in righteousness,     far from any trouble—nothing to fear!     far from terror—it won’t even come close!
If anyone attacks you,     don’t for a moment suppose that I sent them,
And if any should attack,     nothing will come of it.
I create the blacksmith     who fires up his forge     and makes a weapon designed to kill.
I also create the destroyer—     but no weapon that can hurt you has ever been forged.
Any accuser who takes you to court     will be dismissed as a liar.
This is what God’s servants can expect.

I’ll see to it that everything works out for the best.        God’s Decree.

God says- I am about to rebuild you.

All our children shall have God as their teacher.

You will be built – solid and grounded in the righteousness

No weapon that can hurt (put your name) has ever been forged

I will see to it that everything works for the best

James 4:8a: Come close to God, and God will come close to you.

John 15:4-5 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.

Our actions must be in line with Christ

Sermon message: Repairers of the Breach

Hosea 10:12 I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness,     and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts,     for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come     and shower righteousness upon you.’

It’s time to seek the LORD

Isaiah 58:12

Meditate on the Book of Nehemiah

When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven. Then I said,

“O Lord, God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps his covenant of unfailing love with those who love him and obey his commands, listen to my prayer! Look down and see me praying night and day for your people Israel. I confess that we have sinned against you. Yes, even my own family and I have sinned! We have sinned terribly by not obeying the commands, decrees, and regulations that you gave us through your servant Moses.

“Please remember what you told your servant Moses: ‘If you are unfaithful to me, I will scatter you among the nations. But if you return to me and obey my commands and live by them, then even if you are exiled to the ends of the earth,[b] I will bring you back to the place I have chosen for my name to be honored.’

10 “The people you rescued by your great power and strong hand are your servants. 11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me.[c] Put it into his heart to be kind to me.”
